I used to have long hair and did much better than I do now.  I only cut it for a new job years back.  I missed my hair (pain in the ass though it may be) and decided I want it back.  Now that it is growing out I have noticed more women taking a second look.

I have to admit, that yes some guy's look horrid with long hair and some dont.  It's not just the face (mine is good either way, long or short) it's also your hair type.  Mine happens to be dark brown, very fine (but extremly full- kinda like putting your fingers in a wad of cotton) and is more like the Fabio type.  If you have thick hair (hard, doesnt flow well) and you let it grow out to your shoulders or longer you will look more like a rabi.  Dont do it.

The other big part is what kind of world do you live in.  If you hang out in local bars or pubs your most likely not going to hit it off with the women (though you might do well with some guy's-shesh).  I happen to be into the metal scene and tend to hang with women who are into that look.  Because of that, I look out of place with short hair to the women I'm near.

If your asking about long hair then I assume your young (17-22) and dont hangout in certain enviroments like I do.  If you think Limp Bizkit is cool then trust me, DONT grow your hair out.  You will look foolish to your friends and you will hate dealing with washing and drying it every day.

When my hair is past my shoulders, it takes about an extra 40+ minutes to take care of each day.  But when you get a woman who cant keep her hands out of it, you'll know why you have it.  Growing it takes time (and it looks awkward for at least the first year, so you will wear a hat most of the time), and you will have to take care of it.  You will eat it (no joke it gets everywhere) leave it all over the place and it will clog your drain.  Just think about it before you head down that road.  6 months into it if you cut it because of the trouble you will only look back and say (WTF, I just wasted a shit load of my time).

Yeah I have long hair. Most of the girls say that it's cute and i keep it VERY thin. I don't hear any complaints though some of them joke around and tell me to get a perm, i'm definentely not getting my beautiful blonde hair into curls. Though i'm thinking about getting it cut short if it helps me out with the ladies.

For 3 out of my 4 years of college undergrad I had shoulder length (sometimes a little longer) hair. Women used to tell me I had beautiful hair and liked to touch it. I thought that was cool at the time because back then any attention from females was welcome. I cut it when I started law school (had to look more professional) and the response was mixed. Some women like it short, some wish I still had long. I think it depends on the female and it depends on the image you are going for. When I had long hair I had more the surfer-stoner kind of image (and some women really dug that). With shorter hair I feel more masculine and confident and less "pretty" - a term that women often used to describe me and my hair. Most guys (myself included) would rather be handsom, sexy and hot than "pretty". I think I do better with short hair mostly because I feel more confident and sexy and less "pretty". Guys with long hair are often "pretty" in a femine kind of way - that or they are just really skeezy looking (think greasy pony-tail guy working at the comic book shop) Then again, look at Faubio. That guy has hair most women would kill for, and he is pretty much the image of masculinity. So who knows. I think it's all about how you carry yourself and the image you present. I'd like to hear more female perspective on the subject.

Odd.  I feel far more masculine with long hair.  Mabey it's because I'm a mix of German, Irish, and Cherokee (and that would explain my love of beer as well, lol).  I am fllat out more confident with it than I am with short hair.  I know I stand out in a crowd, and I dont have to worry about how it looks.  Once it's long enough then gravity does that for me.  For work I wear a nice hefty pony tail.  Why didnt you try that before you cut it?  Also, I just dont see long hair as "pretty" on a guy.  Well, unless you do that long flat "emo", whiney kind of styling crap on it.  Then it seems like the guy is trying to be pretty.

Personaly I just enjoy tossin on a jolly roger bandana or a pony tail and seeing the looks I get.  With the right costume at a party it's easy to pull of a viking or fantasy warrior look.  Women quite seem to enjoy that.  Now that I've got my hair back to the minimum point I call long (which is at the bottom of my shoulders), I have sworn to never cut it again.  Well mabey in 15-20 years.  If some point in my 50's I've started losing hair or I just dont want to deal with it anymore, then I might consider it.

When you seduce a woman who's never been with a guy with long hair they seem to go all out in bed.  They are willing to get a bit kinky and experiment more.  At least that's what I've noticed.  That's a real plus for me since most of the younger women today missed the 80's and arnt used to guy's with long hair.  That and the fact that I'm in my 30's but still look like I'm in my late teens.  Hell, I get carded for smokes ever single time.  Even had a cop pull me over to tell me that curfew (my county has one) was 30 minutes past.  I told him my age and he took a good lok at my licence.  He thought mabey it was fake, lol.  I just looked at him and said I was just getting started and I need to get going so I could get liquored up for the night.  So mabey the hair does need a certain kind of look and person to be attached to.

Dont forget, most women look at hair as somthing to be styled and teased.  They have been brought up with the idea that hair is supposed to be a "pretty" thing.  That's why you hear that.  When worn right (meaning also the type of attitude you give off) it no longer has a feminin look to it.  Besides, I alos noticed that guy's stopped hitting on me since I have long hair.  When I talked to an ex girlfriend about it she came up with this.  That gay guy's like guy's so like most people, they see long hair as having a woman look to it and it turn them off.  Wether her thought has merit or not, I'm just happy that somthing seems to have stopped them from wanting to do bad things to me, lol.

At 38, I'm probably a little older than many here, but here is my take.
Now I'm a business professional in a CFO role, so I cant go rock star long.  I like to wear my hair a little longer than people expect for my "business status", whatever that means.  Its one way to stand out, maybe.  Anyway, my hair is pretty curly and wavy when it grows out.  Often this is completely out of style, but as it appears to be somewhat in at the moment, I'm taking advantage and growing it longer.  Someone mentioned girl initiated kino from very short hair, I get the same with longer as girls seem to like running their hand through the longer stuff in the back (I have to be very carefull not to go into a mullet as I try to balance long and professional...dont want to be the "party in the back, business in the front" guy, but its a few steps down that road.
Now, I'm working out and eating right to try to drop that pesky 15 lbs between where I am and my ideal weight.  This summer, hopefully with a trimmer body and thinner face, I'll probably go much, much shorter, but I dont think that's generally a good look unless you are least slightly less than average in the extra tonnage department.
Now a beard, that's a different question.  I grew one recently, kept it very short about a week's worth and nothing more.  I got plenty of feedback.  About 90% positive....but there was a trend.  The 90% was almost exclusively girls my age or older (and I'll use "girls" loosely at that age), and the 10% was exclusively for those 10 years younger.  Now, as the town I live in isnt huge and 90% of the girls I am nailing or trying to nail or are even availible are younger , I went with the 10% and took it off.  I guess it was a choice between being better looking but looking older (which at 38 is NOT the goal) or looking not quite as good but younger...pretty simple math, even for a cpa who cant add without a calculator.  I'm curious what others experiences have been with facial hair.

"Now I'm a business professional in a CFO role, so I cant go rock star long." - WestTexas

I'm currently CTO and a part time sales rep in my company.  My hair currently reaches between my shoulders.  There is no real problem with it, (although the owner does like to give me shit over it from time to time).  I keep it in a well groomed tail at work with a silver tail cuff.  It tends to give off an air of confidence to my clients, because they are so not use to seeing those they work with as having long hair.  It also helps me in personaly speaking to the receptionist and work out a date while waiting.  Gives them somthing to notice about me, other than my all to young looking face (which is only a problem with women who think they are older than me).  I cant really grow a beard.  I only grow facial hair around the mouth and chin area.  Smooth neck, jaws, and cheeks.  The facial hair I do grow is sparce at best, so I grow long hair instead.  I assume that since I'm in my early-mid 30's at this point I really wont devlop much more facial hair, and that's that.  Still, I like the long hair since it sticks out a bit and the ladies like to play with it.

Listen to steeltarzan. Yes it is a turn off, the women vs girls guy is an idiot.  It is no longer 1986 and the only women who will find this attractive haven't figured out that it is no longer 1986.

What you look like is not the be all and end all, but don't give the woman something else that she has to overlook.

Being a woman who knows way more women than any of you men I have met one woman in my entire life who says long hair is sexy.  She is 5'3", 200 lb and stuck in the 1980's--and even if she were thin she would still rank -3 on a scale from 1 to 10--and lack of long hair is definately not going to deter her from sleeping with you.

BTW, nothing wrong with being bald as long as you don't wear a wig, have doughnut head, or do the combover.

I've got really long hair, but I always wear it in a ponytail og even better in a braid. It really gets me some attention, believe me. And any attention is good, I think, at least I can use it to start a conversation. I also got a beard, so I realise that there are lots of girls who think I look like a biker or a caveman. But then again, there are girls who like this look, and since I'm usually the only one with that look around, I get all the attention from those women.

BaldGuy and kodai have it absolutely right. Everything depends on what world you live in, and, more importantly, how you carry yourself in that world. I'm also into the whole metal scene and if that's what makes you feel good, powerful and masculine, freaking go for it. Having long hair just isn't some gimmick, it's something that's part of a life-style; or at least it is to me. So it definitely should be something you agree to and fits you. If you have to ask if long hair would be a turn-off for women, long hair is either not good for you or you need to work on your self-esteem.

Of course, if you want to target a specific type of women, long hair can get in the way somewhat of your success. However, you'd be surprised at how far you will be able to get, and after you'll have them say that they never in their life expected to have sex with a guy with long hair. Just goes to show that it all just works to elicit a certain feeling in a woman, and that works kind of on a subconscious level for them. If you're confident in yourself and your looks, you'll be able to make them feel romantic about you no matter if you have long hair.

Oh, and girlspointofview, I have to say that you are most ignorant about women. That's okay, it is to be expected from a woman. After all, it is hardest to fully comprehend yourself than for another to work out the math. There are just too many conflicting ideas and feelings for the truth to really sink in.

You have a one-sided perspective. You link a certain look to a certain period of time. Some people are into doing that, and some people are not. Certainly, not all people associate one style of long hair to the eighties. Then again, there is absolutely nothing wrong with being "stuck in the eighties" if that's a choice you want to make for your life.

Certainly, a majority of women on this Earth is shallow and will have prejudices toward any man with long hair. Trust me, those prejudices will melt like snow when a skilled PUA with long hair opens his mouth to her. Logically, you will deny this. I do not care, because I only care about the results.
