Hysteria Junior Member     I'm making my way through reading the various patterns and see numerous references to pointing to oneself and one's crotch during crucial key moments of talking about oneself. Won't the girl pick up on the fact that you're so blatantly POINTING TO YOURSELF? I mean, I interpret patterning to be a subconscious form of suggestion/persuasion, using double-meaning words/phrases like your mind = you're mine, penetrate deep inside your soul, etc. Therefore, something as literal as a finger point to yourself seems so ridiculous to me. Maybe I'm not doing it right... do you use your thumb to point back at yourself? The index finger only seems natural when pointing at something OTHER than yourself. Really, if you ask the girl to close her eyes at the beginning of the pattern (like the Rose Pattern for example), there's no need to point anyways. Think the key point of it is to be able to talk about abstract qualities which she will like and link them to you without saying that your talking about you. The best way to think about is probably as an addition to what should become a natural» way to talk. More emotive conversationalists tend to get people involved with gesticulation and plenty of touching the other person (always good to get plenty of kino in early anyway). It’s true that the stuff on this site is quite blatant but when I read most of it I tend to look at it as the text book version of what I need to do to get a good response. When you do it for real you try to make it more a part of who you are and so for it to be natural for me I tend to be a bit more understated with some of the things I do. Plenty of pointing to self is definitely something which I find works well and although I don’t do it literally all the time because I move my hands a fair bit when I talk nobody has ever noticed it specifically. I tend to use my whole hand and just tap my chest slowly with the palm facing inwards. As I also tend to keep my hands open and in front of me when I talk and make quite a few other hand movements it seems like a natural thing to do. Also if your hands are slightly raised in front of you it’s easy to incorporate touch anchors or whatever seems appropriate.   I think you just need to find what works for you really. One thing which I find really works well in addition to the pointing to self is pointing away if you are forced to talk about something bad. It works especially well if you are in a bar/club situation as it seems to make the girl start to connect the bad stuff to everyone except you. I swear it’s like sending a clear signal ‘this bad stuff that we’re talking about is not me’. Basically I think the whole pointing stuff relates to anchoring. Anchor the positive, disassociate the negative. There are plenty of other anchoring methods on this site if you don’t like the idea of pointing to your self so I’m sure you can find a way that works for you. I came here with a David DeAngelo style education and see half of the Fast Seduction Player's Guide comprised of friggin' PATTERNS!! DeAngelo doesn't even talk about anything like patterns. So as you can see, I'm trying to figure out how to incorporate patterning into my own style do develop my own method that is uniquely "me" and that I can easily use... much like martial artists who develop their own style based on several other established fighting styles. My problem is that when I converse, I tend to remain somewhat stationary, especially my hands. If I'm standing, my hands are usually in my pockets in a casual way. If I am seated, I'm lounging (showing off big confident body language) and my hands could be relaxing behind my head, or across my chest (bad, actually... gotta "open up" a little more), or some other relaxed position. I gotta make a point of using my hands more, but not in a way that makes me look like I'm thrashing around and drawing attention away from my eyes/lips. This whole forum doesn't seem very active... such a shame because a LOT of wisdom could be shared.
