archive home Help this site fill the gaps in the Newsletter Archive. Here's how: If you've been subscribing to Cliff's list for a significant amount of time, chances
are you have a good number of older messages saved somewhere in your mail software's inbox
or perhaps you took the time to explicitly save the files somwhere else. Either case, you
can help fill the gaps in the archive as long as those saved messages are structured in a
certain way and certain "header" information is intact. The most useable format for this archive is if each unique message is saved into its
own file and that the contents of the file is the raw e-mail text as it appeared in your
inbox, even if there is some HTML formatting (such as the way AOL's mail reader adds).
Also, at least 2 additional required "headers" are: subject and date (date
format doesn't matter). As long as the raw text with original line-breaks is in there,
along with a subject and date header, it's useable. Multiple messages in the same file are
also useable as long as the headers are intact in such a way as to be able to
differentiate between unique messages. If you use Netscape Communicator's Messenger for
storing mail and have a folder file containing your saved messages, that's also usable. Here's an example of formatting that is useable: <HTML>Subj:
