I went through this same transition myself about five months ago, and I think
this is an important post because lots of guys on ASF are looking to make the
transition from indirect style to a more natural style.

My own transition to direct game was like yours -- I realized that I really
wasn't getting any success with all my routines and such. I was running flash
game, and bad flash game too.

Fortunately, I got the same success running direct game as I did with indirect
game at the time (getting phone numbers). I know other guys though in the
Boston Lair who are trying to make the transition, but are having trouble. Part
of it that direct puts your balls on the line more, so it makes it hard for
some guys to even open with. Another part of it is that some guys have become
addicted to the validation of getting girls all giggly with flash game, and
having your friends think you're a pimp, even though the girls always run away
and you don't get anything.

All I can say is that it is definitely worth it. Just, as you said, don't
totally forget the lessons you learned from your indirect days. There are some
situations where indirect game is useful (when a girl approaches you, when
you're genuinely not interested, etc).

ASF is clearly headed in the right direction. If anyone new to ASF is wondering
which style of game to use, just keep this in mind: nobody who is using a
natural style previously ever wants to transition into using a routine-based
style. But, lots of people in the community, including some big names like
PlayboyLA and The One, have recently transitioned to a from a routine-based
style into a natural style.
