offers it first. This comes from the days when they used to wear gloves -
men's hands were often dirty (as horses were the main mode of transport)... so,
if a man shook hands with a woman, it usually soiled her gloves. So, even
though we don't have those considerations anymore, all the connotations are
still there. Shaking hands is the woman's choice, in normal social situations.
Obviously, rules of etiquette are frequently either bent, or completely
destroyed, in sarging situations. As with neg hits, for instance.
