How does giving the impression of a pick up benefit you in any way?

Usually people mean something quite specific with regard to the impression
of a PU - often along the lines of 'I don't know this girl at all but I want
to fuck HER' or 'hitting' on a chick which is usually a demonstration of
lower value. Having the confidence & self belief to go over and talk to
someone directly (and directly game them) is not the same as hitting on
someone.

So assuming we're on the same track then you can display attractive
qualities with the benefit of a better overall frame by not giving the
impression of a pick up. You don't hide anything or make any secret of your
desires, it's just not 'attached' to that particular chick and makes
displaying your qualities etc even easier.
