Bottom line, no matter how much you know you're not going to get started on
knowledge alone, you need a good wing to show you the ropes. You could read al
the books you want on basketball but you'll never learn to play unless you get
on the court and have someone helping you get started. Let your wing do all the
openers and intros in the beginning to get you confortable.
Eventually start doing your own. If you got a wing with you just say random
stuff, whatever comes to mind. I usually try to say something about him like
'hey what do you think of my friend's pants'. Anything to get them talking
without you coming off like you're trying to pick them up. Once you get them
talking they won't even remember what you opened with or why they're even
talking to you so don't worry too much about what you say to open.
I like saying something to get one of the girls talking to my wing then moving
in on the other girl(s) or even just approaching the girl together than
breaking off later, it takes the pressure off you when you're not working
alone.
Another technique I'd suggest trying in the beginning is when you go out with a
wing and you want to try and open girls, work on trying to get girls for your
wing, not yourself. You'd be amazed at how much easier it is to approach girls
when you are trying to get them for someone else. Once you do this you will get
comfortable opening and if you can get a girl for your wing there will usually
will be one there for you too so you're not wasting your time.
